Asian Sesame Slaw

Preparation: 20 min     Chill:  2 hours

“Coleslaw” also known as “cabbage salad” is usually served cold as a side dish.  Our version incorporates an Asian Twist.  Pair it with a STOUFFER’S BISTRO Panini or Crustini for a quick meal.

 

 

You will need:

Dressing:

1 pkg (120g) oriental flavoured dry ramen noodle soup mix 1
2/3 cup mayonnaise 150 ml
1/3 cup rice wine vinegar 75 ml
2 tbsp sugar 30 ml

Salad:

3 cups shredded napa cabbage 750 ml
2 cups shredded red cabbage 500 ml
1 large carrot, shredded 1
1 green onion, diagonally sliced 1
1/4 cup toasted sesame seeds 50 ml

Step 1:
Combine soup seasoning packet, vegetable packet, mayonnaise, vinegar and sugar in large salad bowl, set aside to develop flavours for 10 minutes.

Step 2:
Add cabbage and carrots; toss lightly to combine with dressing. Cover and chill 2 hours.

Step 3:
Just before serving crumble dry ramen noodles over slaw.  Garnish with green onion and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds.

Makes 8 servings

Nutrients per serving (per 1/2 cup/125 ml): about 190 calories, 4 g protein, 9 g fat, 22 g carbohydrate, 21 mg vitamin C (35% Daily Value for vitamin C), 2235 IU vitamin A (45% Daily Value for vitamin A),  3 g fibre (12% Daily Value for fibre)

Nestlé Kitchens Tip:  Dry ramen noodle soups can also be used to “spice” up and add some “heat” to this salad!
 
Good to Know:  One serving of this salad contains a good source of Vitamin A, Vitamin C, and a source of fibre. Vitamin A & C are factors in the development and maintenance of bones and teeth.
