Step 1:
Preheat oven to 375˚F (190˚C). In a large bowl, combine flour, rolled oats, sugar and cinnamon. With pastry blender or 2 knives, cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Remove 1/3 cup (75 ml) crumb mixture and set aside. Press remaining mixture onto bottom of lightly greased 13 x 9 inch (30 x 20 cm) baking pan. Arrange apple slices in single layer of overlapping rows to cover base. Set aside.
Step 2:
Place toffee pieces in 2 cup (500 ml) microwaveable glass measure or bowl. Add evaporated milk; microwave at high for 2 minutes, stirring twice. Microwave at high 15 to 30 seconds longer or until bubbling; stir until smooth. Drizzle evenly over apples. Add almonds to reserved crumb mixture; sprinkle evenly over top.
Step 3:
Bake for 40 to 45 minutes or until apples are softened and caramel mixture begins to bubble. Let cool slightly before slicing to serve.
