MACKINTOSH'S MACK Toffee Squares


Preparation:

You will need:

1 pkg MACKINTOSH'S MACK toffee candy (170 g), unwrapped 1
2 tbsp butter 30 ml
2 tsp milk 10 ml
3⁄4 cup sliced almonds, toasted 175 ml
3⁄4 cup corn flake cereal 175 ml
1⁄3 cup flaked coconut, toasted 80 ml

Tools required:
Medium saucepan, 8 inch (2 L) square pan

Step 1:
In a heavy-duty medium saucepan, over medium-low heat, cook toffee, butter and milk, stirring often, for about 10 minutes until melted and smooth.  Immediately stir in almonds, corn flakes and coconut.

Step 2:
Quickly press into buttered square pan.  Let stand for 10 minutes.

Step 3:
Carefully, remove from pan and place topside up on cutting board.  With a large, sharp knife, cut into squares.  Place on rack to cool.

Makes 25 squares

Nestlé Kitchens Tip: Toast almonds and coconut on a baking sheet at 350°F (180°C) for 5 to 10 minutes or until lightly golden, stirring occasionally.  Be sure to watch closely to prevent burning.
