After Eight & Toll House Brownie

AFTER EIGHT & TOLL HOUSE Brownies


These irresistible mint brownies are the perfect after dinner dessert!

You will need:
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour 375 mL
1 cup cocoa 250 mL
1/2 tsp baking powder 2 mL
1/2 tsp salt 2 mL
2/3 cup butter-flavoured vegetable shortening 170 mL
2 cups granulated sugar 500 mL
4 large eggs 4
1 pkg (340 g) NESTLÉ TOLL HOUSE Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels 1
1 box (300 g) AFTER EIGHT chocolates, unwrapped 1
 
Tools required:
13 x 9 inch (3.5 L) baking pan

Step 1:
Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Coat baking pan with non-stick cooking spray. Combine flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt in small bowl. Beat shortening, sugar and eggs in large mixing bowl until creamy. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in morsels.

Step 2:
Pour half the batter into greased baking pan, spreading evenly with spatula or butter knife. Individually unwrap AFTER EIGHT mints and layer side by side evenly over top surface of batter. Using a spatula or butter knife, carefully spread the remaining batter on top of the mint layer, covering completely.

Step 3:
Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until wooden pick inserted in centre comes out slightly sticky. Cool completely on wire rack; cut into squares.

Makes 30 brownies (2 1/2 dozen)
