CARNATION Baked French Toast

Baked French Toast


Preparation:

Cook: 15 min

Baked instead of fried, this easy French toast recipe is lower in fat than traditional recipes and gets you out of the kitchen to spend more time with friends and family. Use a dense white bread that won’t fall apart when moistened.












You will need:

3 eggs, lightly beaten 3
1 can (370 ml) fat free evaporated milk 1
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon 2 ml
6 thick slices white bread 6
Maple syrup

Tools Required:
Two glass baking dishes

Step 1:
Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).  Lightly grease two glass baking dishes; set aside. Stir together eggs, evaporated milk and cinnamon in medium bowl.

Step 2:
Arrange bread slices evenly in single layer into the glass baking dishes.  Pour equal amounts of egg mixture over bread, turning slices over once to coat.  Cover and refrigerate 1 hour or until liquid is absorbed. 

Step 3:
Place soaked bread in single layer on prepared baking sheet.  Bake 10 minutes.  Turn slices over; bake 5 to 10 minutes longer or until golden.  Serve with maple syrup. 

Makes 4 to 6 servings.
