Mascarpone Bruschetta with Honey

Preparation: 15 min     Cook: 10 min    

This recipe makes a delicious appetizer or a quick, light dessert served with fresh fruit. For an easy party beverage, try NESTEA Sangria.

 


You will need:
1 white or whole wheat baguette 1
1 cup marscapone cheese 250 ml
1 juice & zest of fresh lemon 1
1/2 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped finely 125 ml
1/3 cup liquid honey 75 ml
     
Step 1:
Diagonally slice baguette into 1/2 inch (1 cm) slices and place on an ungreased grill. Toast on each side for 3-5 min on medium heat (if you don’t have a grill, broil bread until golden brown for about 1 minute per side). Remove bread from grill and place on a large platter for serving.

Step 2:
Spread mascarpone cheese on toasted bread.

Step 3:
Top with finely chopped basil and drizzle with honey; garnish with additional
lemon zest, if desired.

Makes 24 servings

Nutrients per serving (per 1 slice): about 130 calories, 3 g protein, 9 g fat, 11 g carbohydrate.

Good to Know: Using a whole wheat baguette will provide your body with more nutrients, such as fibre, than a white baguette would. Canada’s Food Guide recommends making at least half of your grain products, whole grains every day.
