Q. What’s new for Nestlé?
A. Nestlé’s new Nestea Bars are delicious peach and raspberry flavoured frozen iced tea bars made without any artificial colours or flavours! Nestlé is making the move to no artificial colours or flavours to fit with the trend towards healthier lifestyles, and increased demand for fewer artificial ingredients.
Q. What do you mean when you say Nestea bars are prepared from natural sources?
A. "Prepared from natural sources" means that materials used to manufactured these colours are from vegetable sources and are drawn from the CFIA list of Permitted Natural Colours in Canada http://www.inspection.gc.ca/english/fssa/labeti/decisions/coloure.shtml
Q. Are Nestea Bars healthier than other frozen treats?
A. Nestea bars have only 40 calories per bar, making them a great low calorie or portion control option. Plus they are made with real Nestea iced tea.
Q. Which Nestlé ice cream and frozen dessert products are gluten free?
A. Ice cream and frozen dessert products are gluten free, but may contain baked inclusions which contain gluten. Anyone looking for a gluten-free product should avoid ice cream sandwiches, cone products, cookie and ice cream flavours such as Oreo, and flavours which contain inclusions like brownie pieces, cookie dough and cheese cake. Often the product name indicates the presence of these types of inclusions and they are always listed on the ingredient declaration. If in doubt, please call Nestlé Consumer Services toll free at 1 800 387-4636.
Q. What is the difference between a sherbet and a sorbet?
A. Sherbet contains less than 5% milk solids and fewer calories than ice cream. The finished product is a light, tangy dessert which, due to its minimum content of 0.35% acid, has an enhanced fresh fruit taste. Sorbet contains no milk solids at all.
Q. What is the shelf life of ice cream and yogourt?
A. In general, the shelf life of packaged ice creams and novelties, as well as yogourt, is one year. Cone products such as DRUMSTICK have a shelf life of 9 months after which the cone tends to go soggy. This applies to products that are stored below -26º C - in other words, in a retailer's freezer. We would not recommend that products be stored in your home for more than one month. After this time, the products may be safe to eat but the ice cream texture will be icy and the cones or wafers will be soggy.
