Suggestions for adding milk into a child’s daily routine from Terry Carson – parenting coach & mother of four
Pack chocolate milk in your child’s lunch
- Pour chocolate milk made with NESQUIK into a thermos, or choose NESQUIK READY-TO-DRINK chocolate milk in a convenient Tetra-Pak.
- Place the filled containers in the freezer over night.
- In the morning, place a frozen container in your child’s lunch bag before they go to school.
- The container/box will keep the rest of the lunch cool and by lunch time the chocolate milk will be thawed enough for them to drink.
Drink milk, including chocolate milk, at meals
For many kids, it’s “monkey see, monkey do.” If they see you choose milk or chocolate milk instead of other beverages, they are significantly more likely to copy you and choose it themselves. Also, encourage your kids to order chocolate milk instead of pop when you're eating out with them.
Snacking should be nutritious and delicious
Chocolate milk is a healthy snack. For something different, make a chocolate-banana smoothie. Simply blend one cup of chocolate milk with one frozen banana. Your kids will love it!
Cut back on soft drinks
Go through your fridge and cut down on less nutritious beverages, like pop and fruit drinks.
Serve it cold
Milk, including chocolate milk, tastes best when it’s nice and cold. Some kids even add ice cubes for an especially chilly drink.
Get kids involved in preparation
Engage your kids in the food preparation process by helping them choose more nutritious options for family meals, including making chocolate milk with NESQUIK 1/3 LESS SUGAR.
